The Tour de France a la Voile has become the best one-design trimaran racing circuit in the world. In the words of Team France –
The Tour de France à la Voile is certainly the most anticipated event of the year by all the sportsmen sailing in Diam 24! The 2016 edition took place from 8 to 31 July and consisted of nine stages, including eight in France and one in Spain.
For 24 days, all the participating teams crossed the French (and Spanish) roads and then measured against each other on the Channel, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. At each stage, one day was dedicated to the stadium courses and another to the coastal raids.
In order to attract the general public, the format of the Tour has been designed in such a way as to multiply the meeting points between the sportsmen and the spectators, in particular by setting up a village in each town with numerous events and organizing all the races at Close to the coast.
The Diam 24, which is the official boat of the Tour de France to Sailing since 2015, has a format that allows it to sail close to the shore, to the delight of the public.
6 sailors took part in this competition under the colors of Team France Jeune. Finally, the crew won the 1st place in the ranking young and amateur … just! Overall, Team France Jeune is in 8th place.
Substantial and generous corporate sponsorship, shit-hot boats, numerous raid-style venues close to shore, exciting action and a platform pitting amateur vs rock star is a formula for success. Registration for next years Tour is currently open, and announcement of the route will be on Saturday, Dec 3rd at the Paris Boat Show.
