Recently 747 Captain Robert de Vries sailed his Corsair 31UC Brainwave across the North Sea to England and return. Robert kindly shared the video he made of the trip for posting here. Robert and Ernest are Boeing 747 captains in real life, and they probably have more navigation instrumentation on Brainwave than on a 747 flight deck.
It is remarkable how many trimaran sailors are also aviation professionals. Trimarans and airplanes are highly engineered structures, designed to withstand heavy loads, while transporting their occupants safe and fast across beautiful wild spaces. These spaces, and the craft that take them there, are home for both pilots and sailors.
Fly on Brainwave – you are cleared for takeoff.
