This week, Thomas Coville on Sodebo continued to thunder around the world on pace to shatter the solo round the world record. He is around Cape Horn and tho he expeienced his slowest day of the journey just off the Cape, he remains 4 days ahead. The tracker is here and we note he seems to heading now for the Falklands…..trouble aboard? We hope not.

Down in Phuket Thailand, a good sized and diverse fleet of trimarans are duking it out this week in blustery conditions. By all accounts the first couple of days racing were quite expensive for a number of owners with dismasting and structural problems encountered while putting the pedal down.

The regatta goes all week and you can get more info, stay up to date  at – .

In DIAM 24 OD news, it was announced that strict one-design rules could be enforced by use of RFID technology mounted on the boats. In addition, they intend to provide turn-key racing – tech crews provided to set up and tune the boat prior to the regatta so all you have to do is step aboard and strap in. Declaring “our main objective is to enable as many sailors as possible – experienced or otherwise – to experience and learn high speed sailing in complete safety.” Diam wants to get as many of us out racing on their boats as possible. In addition, they announced an “Ambassador” program – sell a Diam 24 and get a oommision. Thinking we might sign up as Diam 24 Ambassadors and go racing!

And finally, our favorite badass MOD70 – the copper and green Phaedo, obliterated the foiling Maserati in the RORC Transat race. Phaedo led the entire way after taking a southerly board at the start while Maserati went North to set up a good foiling angle. She couldnt catch the green machine tho, and Phaedo smoked into Port Louis Marina Grenada nearly a day ahead – which for a MOD70 is about 400 miles…..

A very cool 360 degree video of Maserati below however –

We’ll try to gather up some inspiring Trimaran images and videos over the next couple of days and put out a “Trimaran Art” post – its been awhile since we did that, and it feels like its time.
